Intervention Levels
Students at Centinela Valley Independent Study School are expected to make at a minimum the same graduation progress as students enrolled at CVUHSD traditional high schools. As such, there is an expectation that students will earn at least 30 credits per semester. In order for students to complete 30 credits per semester, they have a set goal of completing 35% of combined progress in their courses per week. Students who do not complete this requirement drop an intervention level. If a student falls to Tier III (after two consecutive weeks not meeting minimum course progress) a parent meeting is triggered to discuss additional supports to help the student get back to Tier I. Since attendance is linked to weekly course progress, not making progress goals can lead to the SART/SARB process and disenrollment from the school.
